Life in a Box

A small crack in my room For the air to pass in and out To see the world outside And give hopes to my dream I see a tree With a few leaves left on it My palm reaches out to it A new bloom is coming to you In no time at all You will be a lush green tree A falling tree smiles back at me It's not upset about the seasonal changes Bidding me a final goodbye It falls down A few days gone by  I peep through the small crack in my room I see another box standing tall With small cracks on it For the air to pass in and out -Shamitha Heramb

Poem: A Room Across the Street

On a rainy day I unpack my life in a new city Call it as my new life I notice a room across my balcony Though unknown the smile touches my heart I wave and get a wave back Oh! A new friend What an amazing start! A few days pass, the routine kicks off My house warming party goes on for a year Too many friends to remember the names But each night brings thrill in my life What an amazing life! Keep reminding myself One day it rained so heavily I had to sit back All my plans and unnamed friends dropped out Made some coffee And decided to watch the rain Sitting in the balcony, I remember the room across and the smile Not able to find anyone behind those large curtains I lose hope to this place and decide to move on Shall start my life in a new city Call it as my new life -Shamitha Heramb

Poem: Regrets

All we have are regrets The life I could live The life I did not live Maybe I should have smiled at him Maybe I should have said yes I should not have eaten that burger One cheese slice would have made no difference I should have hugged her one last time I should not have said that to him I could have graduated in literature I should not have left the job Why the hell did I take the right turn? Maybe the left turn has a dead end I should not have taken a u-turn Maybe I should not regret I should try the other way or Maybe I shall still regret -Shamitha Heramb

Words of Horror

The year 1947 Shaken words poured in the book Story of antonyms Sorrow-Happiness Love-Hate War-Peace Lose-Win Captive-Free The hand that wrote this story was unable to finish it -Shamitha Heramb

Poem: The Kitchen Dance

She gracefully moves around perfecting every step Her loved ones in awe of how she is feeding her child, cooking the dal kadi and taking the office call When she is just about to drop the spoon, her better-half rushes to her rescue And they both wink, spicing up their daily dance duet -Shamitha Heramb
